Kirchenakte Documented events from judgments, reports and church documents

Kirchenakte

Foreword

This site is for information only. The facts collected here are publicly available, but they are scattered across court judgments, investigation reports, church documents and reference works in many languages. Anyone who wants to gather them alone needs a great deal of time. This chronicle brings them together in one place and arranges them in time.

The focus is deliberately on the dark side: scandals, abuses and violence that came from the Church, its institutions and its office holders. There are many easily accessible accounts of the good the Church has done. This site shows the other side, which is otherwise hard to piece together.

It does not pass judgment and does not try to convince anyone. It is directed neither against the faith nor against the people who live it. Every statement names its source and quotes the original word for word, so that everyone can check it. The assessment and the opinion remain yours.
