Cologne 1627: Katharina Henot is sentenced to death as a witch by the Elector's court; the city council morally rehabilitates her in 2012
Katharina Henot was executed in Cologne in 1627. According to the city council, criminal jurisdiction lay with the territorial lord: death sentences were passed by the Elector's High Secular Court, and executions were carried out in the Elector's name. The Elector was Ferdinand, also Archbishop of Cologne. In 2012 the council reaffirmed her moral and socio-ethical rehabilitation and condemned the executions. The city could not pronounce a legally effective rehabilitation.
